On November 5–6, 2026, the University of Tartu will celebrate the 394rd anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine. This two-day conference serves as a traditional gathering for students, faculty, researchers, alumni, and partners from the field.

On Thursday, the scientific conference will take place at Biomedicum, where researchers, faculty members, doctoral candidates, and students will present the latest findings from medical and sports science research conducted over the past year. Abstracts will be presented in three formats: oral presentations, flash talks, and poster presentations in the poster session. A flash talk is a three-minute oral presentation where participants introduce their research poster.

On Friday, the traditional thematic conference will focus on mental health. The event will feature presentations by experts from the Faculty of Medicine as well as invited speakers from other institutions.

Friday evening will conclude with the Dean’s Reception and Gala Dinner, where the best scientific conference presentations will be recognized, and the Faculty of Medicine medals will be awarded. Additionally, scholarships and diplomas will be presented to medical residents who graduated during the summer.

As per tradition, the abstracts of faculty members, researchers, students, and physicians will be published as a supplement in the journal Eesti Arst. These high-quality abstracts reflect active research in various medical fields. During the anniversary events, the Faculty of Medicine's highest honor – the Faculty of Medicine Medal – will be awarded, along with scientific conference prizes and scholarships. The Faculty of Medicine is one of the few faculties at the University of Tartu that celebrates its anniversary with a dedicated scientific conference.

We cordially invite all students, residents, and academic researchers across all career stages to submit abstracts about their research achievements during the past year by May 26, 2026.
